Similarities and Differences Between APA and MLA
Similarities between APA and MLA
1. The formatting of the entire essay except the sources (obviously) are the same.
2. Both require you to denote the same things to properly source your evidence in the body paragraphs, but the locations of where you put them differ.
3. Both formats use parentheses to denote that citation of the information is there.
4. Also, in both formats you use a hanging indent.
5. Regardless if its a "Works Cited" page or a Reference Page, you are organizing the sources alphabetically.

Differences between APA and MLA
1. In APA they have an abstract of the article. It may only be in the one that is shown, or it could be required in general.
2. You need the title of the section or article that starts the page up in the header on the opposite side of your last name and page number.
3. In APA there is no "Works Cited" page, but there is a Reference page. It does the same thing, but there are few differences between them.
4.Only the first word of the title, the first word of a subtitle, and any proper nouns (like names) are capitalized. Everything else is lowercase. Also, the title is written in italics.
5.APA does use commas and, if a page is mentioned, uses p. and pp.
