Evaluating Sources

I will be using this as an example of a Non-Academic Hydro-Environment piece by showing that a synthesis of a compilation of inspections and the creation of improvements aren’t the only things that a hydro-environment scientist/engineer can write. This article is telling the public that hydro-engineers tried all available to repair a piece of malfunctioning equipment and in the end they were successful. The language that was used in this article understandable for the average joe. The language of Non-Academic sources varies with what is being reported. Issues that contain numerous inspections/studies will have a lot of language that the average person does not understand; because they are wanting to describe certain aspects of the device that were looked at. The article was organized the same way as all the other articles; but with a lot less talk about inspections and methods. One thing that this article did that was amazing, was when it was talking about the solution the engineers chose, it said “The best option available”. The article did not refute that there were other options that could have accomplished the same task, but it wasn’t the best one that was created. This article was intended for the general public.
